So the month of October is upon us, yet again. With the (vice) presidential debates, football, fall, and premature Halloween decor cluttering your mind like the leaves on your lawn, it may be nice to go and see some good shows, yeah? 

Try seeing The Walkmen at the Parish on the tenth, or if you haven't gotten your fill of political hooplah maybe catch Spoon and Gary Clark Jr. at the Texas Dems Benefit on the thirteenth. 

Then, for you beat/electronica deprived Austinites, Girl Talk will be playing (what looks like an AWESOME show) on the twentieth at Emo's with bearded/strange rappers Grand Buffet opening. 

And since October isn't just about little shows, after all, the big ol' Frank Erwin Center will be seeing Weezer play on the twentieth with Tokyo Police Club opening. Also, Austin Music Hall will host The Stills and the southern strokes, Kings of Leon, on the twenty-fifth. 

The Cold War Kids will play (already have my tickets) at Emo's on the twenty-fourth with grunge/folk group A. A. Bondy opening. 

We wrap this month of craziness up with Ben Folds Five and Missy Higgins at Stubb's on the twenty-fifth followed by blog-rockers TV on the Radio and The Dirtbombs on the thirtieth.

OH, no... That's not all.

I suggest you purchase your vitamins and other necessaries in advance (also, maybe a ticket... it'll sell quick) for the Stubb's Halloween party. Sound Tribe Sector Nine will be there, and doors are at 7 pm. If you're not there and wearing your wizard/tavern girl outfit then you're just not doing your part to keep Austin weird.
